Cuts in the VAT on foods would be a positive step that could fuel higher consumption in Slovakia, according to the Slovak Association for Brand Products (SZZV). The association has welcomed the bill presented by Slovak National Party leader Andrej Danko to that effect earlier on Friday, pointing out that Slovakia has been a country with the long-term highest VAT on foods in the region and one of the highest VATs in the entire EU.
