SaS plans flat tax, balanced budget and "non-corrupt EU funds"

February 10th, 2020

Slovakia's opposition Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party wants to revive a flat-rate income tax, unify VAT rates and introduce changes in drawing EU funds if it becomes part of the next government, party representatives told a news conference in Bratislava on Monday. The party said it would like to see a balanced budget by the end of the electoral term. SaS does not plan an overall increase in the tax burden, but it is not ruling out changes to the tax mix. "We'll introduce a flat tax amounting to a maximum of 19 percent, without any exceptions," MP Marian Viskupic said.
