Salaries in Slovak industries up 6.9 pc in March

The average nominal monthly salary posted the highest annual rise in March in information and communications activities - by 18.7 percent to 2,226 euros, the Slovak Statistics Office announced on Friday. Other nominal salary increases were as follows: in accommodation - by 10 percent to 713 euros, in restaurants and pubs - 8.9 percent to 464 euros, in retail - 8.1 percent to 711 euros, in industrial production - 6.9 percent to 1,088 euros, in construction - 4.5 percent to 677 euros, in wholesale - 3.6 percent to 952 euros, in selected market services - 3.4 percent to 930 euros, and in transport and warehousing - 2.6 percent to 911 euros. A drop in nominal salaries was posted in the sale and maintenance of motor vehicles - by 0.3 percent to 980 euros.
