The rate of population decline increased in the first six months of 2019 after 2.8 percent fewer births and 1.0 percent more deaths were registered compared with the same period last year, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Tuesday. In the first six months of the year, 41,902 children were born, 1,201 fewer than in the same period last year, while 67,741 died, 691 more than in Jan-Mar 2018. The rate of natural population decline was 7.9 percent higher than in the same period a year earlier, the KSH said.
