Deputy Prime Minister for investment and informatisation Richard Rasi (Smer-SD), who on the Day of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) on Wednesday attended a commemorative event at the Dargov Pass (Kosice region), paid tribute to the SNP as a "key event that allows us to wake up in the morning and go to school, work or go out with friends". Rasi pointed to the importance of the Dargov Pass, which saw fierce battles even after the SNP was defeated in the autumn of 1944. Smer MEP Monika Smolkova, also present at the commemorative event, highlighted the SNP as a "symbol of resistance by a small nation against a really mighty armed superiority within Europe".
