Prievidza to join coal regions transformation project

The town of Prievidza (Trencin region) is set to join the TransCoal4Regions project aimed at building a low carbon future resistant to climate change as part the Horizon 2020 community programme. German NGO ICLEI offered the Slovak town the chance to participate in the project as a representative of one of the pilot regions in the process involving the transformation from coal to another type of industry. This was also approved by local councillors at their session on Monday. The Horizon 2020 community programme is one of the initiatives at the European level that focuses directly on coal regions that are soon to face the transformation process.
