Prague Zoo has joined a worldwide effort to save the endangered population of the Titicaca water frog and opened a vivarium with 20 offspring of the frogs captured in Peruvian restaurants before they could be killed and consumed, zoo director Miroslav Bobek told media. In the wild, the species is threatened with extinction due to water pollution in the Lake Titicaca situated in the altitude over 3,800 metres on the border of Peru and Bolivia.
