Prague Council approves demolition of 90-year-old Liben Bridge

April 24th, 2018

The Prague City Council on Tuesday approved the plan to demolish the 90-year-old Liben Bridge that crosses the Vltava (Moldau) River in the northern part of the city due to its poor technical condition and to enable its replacement with a new bridge. The project still requires consent from the City Assembly, which is to vote on it on Thursday. The Liben Bridge, with bustling car and tram traffic, was inaugurated in 1928 and has never been renovated. Its technical condition required some provisional maintenance measures that closed the bridge for six weeks earlier this year.
