Post-EP election gov't reshuffle decision in coming days - PM's aide

May 28th, 2019

A decision regarding a post-EP election government reshuffle will be taken by PM Mateusz Morawiecki and ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party leader Jarosław Kaczynski likely within the next few days, the head of the PM's Office, Michał Dworczyk, said on Tuesday. PiS won the Sunday elections to the European Parliament (EP) having received 45.38 percent of the vote, which translates into 27 seats in the EP. New Polish MEPs - Deputy PM Beata Szydło, Interior Minister Joachim Brudziński, Family, Labour and Social Policy Ministry Elżbieta Rafalska, Education Minister Anna Zalewska as well as Minister Beata Kempa and government spokesperson Joanna Kopcińska will have to give up their government posts within two weeks after the announcement of the official results of the Sunday vote. Dworczyk noted that many important PiS politicians will soon leave for Brussels, adding that the ruling camp has a "considerable supply" of experts and experienced lawmakers.
