Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday discussed the situation related to the process of the United Kingdom leaving the EU, Polish governmental spokeswoman Joanna Kopcińska told PAP. The conversation focused on the British parliament's rejection of the EU-UK divorce deal negotiated by British Prime Minister Theresa May and Tuesday's vote in which lawmakers obliged her to demand a solution that would prevent the imposition of a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland when the UK leaves the bloc, other than the controversial 'backstop' solution which has been a sticking point for the UK parliament.
