The Polish national air carrier LOT has signed a letter of intent with the Brazilian Azul company for the lease of 18 Embraer 195 medium-range planes and up to 14 options, LOT has told PAP. LOT added in its press release that "by the end of 2020, LOT will have received ten out of 18 ordered planes." "Thanks to this deal, LOT will become the biggest Embraer operator in Europe with a fleet of over 50 planes," the company said. Rafal Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines, was quoted as saying that the E195 jets are the core of LOT's short-haul fleet and will make it possible to further develop the flight network from its bases in Warsaw and Budapest.
