I would expect the Polish National Foundation to take Guy Verhofstadt, the head of the liberals in the European Parliament, to court over his remarks about 'fascists' at the Independence March, Deputy Sejm (lower house) Speaker Joachim Brudzinski said Thursday. The deputy speaker was referring to a Wednesday debate at the European Parliament, during which MEPs representing most political groupings called on the Polish government to respect EU values. During the debate, Verhofstadt made reference to last Saturday's Independence March in Warsaw, claiming that "several thousand fascists, neo-Nazis and white supremacists" had marched through the Polish capital. "That march took place 300km from the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp".
