July 30th, 2019
Bankers' support for the introduction of the euro in Poland dropped by 8 percentage points to 43 percent year-on-year, according to the Union of Polish Banks and the Kantar TNS pollster. The level of support is the lowest in two years. Sixty-four percent of those polled believe that Poland's joining the monetary union would be beneficial for businessmen and corporations, while 44 percent said it would be favourable for banks operating in Poland, as well as for small and medium-sized firms. Almost half the respondents assessed that adopting the euro would bring consumers more harm than good. The July poll was conducted among 120 bank branches in Poland.
