The Polish people have the right to talk about the huge scale of losses suffered during World War II and its victims. The ongoing debate in Poland on war reparations is part of our politics of history, the Polish foreign minister said in Berlin on Thursday. Mnister Czaputowicz made the statement after the end of talks with his German counterpart, Heiko Maas. Addressing a joint press conference, the Polish official said Poland and Germany "want to deepen their knowledge about the history of mutual relations, with special emphasis on the experience of the Second World War." The 80th anniversary of the outbreak of WW2, to be observed next year, should help reach this goal, he said. "In our opinion, the Polish people have the right to talk about the huge scale of losses suffered during WWII and its victims. The debate on war reparations, which is going on in Poland chiefly in parliament and expert circles, also with German experts in attendance, is part of our politics of history," the Polish FM said.
