Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Tuesday that if NATO's command system is to be reformed, the country wants to house part of it. Blaszczak made the declaration in Bucharest, while attending a meeting of defence ministers from the alliance's nine Eastern flank countries: Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia. In a statement released after a meeting with his Romanian counterpart Mihai-Viorel Fifor, the defence minister emphasised that for the sake of security, it is important for Warsaw and Bucharest to maintain ties. Currently, a Romanian contingent is stationed in Poland, while a 250-strong Polish force is deployed in the Romanian city of Craiova.
