Poland's leadership of NATO's so-called Spearhead Force next year will be a challenge, but it is also proof of the growing position of Poland in the Alliance, the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN), Pawel Soloch, told PAP on Tuesday. Next year, Poland will lead NATO's high-readiness Spearhead Force which comprises land, air, sea and special forces units capable of being deployed at short notice to threats against NATO sovereignty. Soloch announced that the Chief of the Staff of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces, Piotr Blazeusz, who was promoted to the rank of major general, will receive the nomination in connection with his planned appointment to the position of Deputy Chief of Staff for Planning in the Supreme Headquarters of Allied Powers in Europe (SHAPE).
