Poland and India have signed a cooperation agreement which is aimed at creating favourable conditions for cooperation between Polish and Indian coal mining sectors, the Polish Energy Ministry has announced. The deal was signed in New Delhi on Monday by Grzegorz Tobiszowski, Polish deputy energy minister, and Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, Indian minister of state for coal and mines. "India has coal resources of global significance as well as plans for a major increase of its extraction. Poland, on the other hand, has huge experience in restructuring and modernising its mining sector. This situation creates excellent conditions for the development of our economic cooperation," Grzegorz Tobiszowski was quoted as saying in the Energy Ministry's statement. The already-operating Joint Working Group for Coal and Energy, which meets alternately in Poland and India, will also facilitate contacts between companies from the two countries, the ministry added.
