Poland won't back down from its reform of the judiciary and has run out of concessions said Jacek Sasin, an aide to Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. "We are ready to compromise with the European Commission, but both sides have to show a will to do so," said Sasin, but "don't count on our backing down from changes to the judicial system, which are expected by Poles, are needed, and which we promised," he said. Krzysztof Szczerski, an aide to the President also insists that the overhaul is "restituting justice" and will not be turned back. Three independent sources in Brussels informed PAP on Thursday and Friday that a European Commission representative had filed a motion for a formal hearing of Poland with regard to the country's rule-of-law dispute with the EC, which is bringing Article 7 proceedings against Warsaw.
