Poland's Constitutional Tribunal (TK) on Monday ruled that neither common courts nor the Supreme Court (SN) could assess whether the appointments of the TK's head and deputy head by the president were legal, citing the constitutional balance of powers. The TK's panel of five judges ruled, not unanimously, that the civil procedure code was unconstitutional insofar as it allowed for the appraisal of whether the appointment of the TK head by the president was valid.
