The European Union's chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, paid a visit to Warsaw on Thursday during which he met with Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, with Senate and Sejm (lower house) EU affairs committees also on his agenda. Following the Morawiecki-Barnier meeting, Polish Minister for European Affairs Konrad Szymanski said Poland had signalled its primary economic aims in respect of the Brexit negotiation mandate, and all the basic ingredients were in place to negotiate an ambitious trade deal with the UK. "It is important for us to minimalise the costs to our economy of Great Britain's exit from the EU common market," Szymanski said. "We would like the trade exchange in the automotive sector, agri-food production, IT and transport services to continue to develop."
