PM Babis fined 200,000 crowns for conflict of interest

February 6th, 2019

The town hall in Cernosice near Prague imposed a 200,000 crowns fine on PM Andrej Babis over conflict of interest through controlling some media that fall under the Agrofert holding, which Babis owned before transferring it to trust funds in early 2017, daily Pravo said today. Babis's lawyers appealed the town hall's decision from January 21 on Monday. The appeal will be assessed by the superior Central Bohemia Regional Office which will have to decide on it within 30 days. Babis does not have to pay the fine before the decision is passed.
