Parlt amends vet law to define animals as sentient creatures

Parliament on Friday accepted an amendment to Slovakia's veterinary law to define animals as sentient creatures whose treatment should consider that "are able to perceive the world with their own senses", the law says. Farm Minister Gabriela Matecna called the amendment "a historic step towards improving the status of animals in our country."
