Securing a strong Hungarian presence in the next European Parliament is a key goal for the May elections, Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Romania's ethnic Hungarian RMDSZ party leader Hunor Kelemen agreed in Budapest on Thursday. Orban congratulated Kelemen on his recent re-election to the post, the prime minister's press chief said. The two politicians discussed preparations for the EP elections within the European People's Party, Bertalan Havasi said. Orban and Kelemen reviewed progress in Transylvanian economic development programmes part-funded by the Hungarian government.
