Prime Minister Viktor Orban on Tuesday inaugurated a memorial to the victims of Budapest's Soviet occupation, saying that after the second world war, "we learnt that Hungary's most important asset is its sovereignty". "We have paid for our weakness and loss of independence with hundreds of thousands of deportees, captives and expulsions," Orban said at the ceremony in Budapest's 3rd district, adding that Hungary would not yield an "ounce of sovereignty" because it would end up losing all of it.
