Poland's opposition parties have sharply criticised Agriculture Minister Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski following a scandal over the slaughter of sick cows. One opposition party is demanding his dismissal, other groupings are calling for more information. "The parliamentary caucus of the Civic Platform-Civic Coalition (PO-KO) expects PM Mateusz Morawiecki to recall the agriculture minister and to assume personal supervision over the Agriculture Ministry," the caucus head, Sławomir Neumann, said. "We have been witnessing the beginning of another Law and Justice scandal related to the incompetence of its agriculture ministers: first, of Krzysztof Jurgiel, and now of Jan Krzysztof Ardanowski in connection with exports of Polish beef; with what has been going on in the Veterinary Inspectorate; and with the lack of supervision over food, which has so far been the pride of Polish farmers," Neumann told reporters in the Sejm (lower house).
