The number of tourists spending their holidays in Slovakia went up by 4.4 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2018 to 1.2 million individuals accommodated in the country, TASR learnt from the Transport and Construction Ministry, which manages the tourism sector. "It's a very good sign that tourism has been enjoying a very positive period over the past years. The growing number of tourists shows that we can attract people, be interesting for them and also be competitive," said Transport Minister Arpad Ersek, adding that Slovakia has to continue working on its quality, innovations and originality in order to keep up with the best.
