The annual Independence Day march in Warsaw will go ahead this year under the banner "Our Civilisation, Our Rules" despite the pandemic. Robert Bakiewicz, president of the Independence March Association, said on Monday that he hoped the police would protect the 11th Independence March. In the past the march through central Warsaw has been marred by violence and the high-profile presence of far-right groups, although organisers have been keen to stress that many ordinary Poles take part. "The Independence March will take place on November 11th," said Bakiewicz. "We invite you to Rondo Dmowskiego at 2pm ... We invite all Poles, all patriots, to be with us in these difficult times for Poland."
