Nove Zamky councillors reject gift of Turkish fountain in town

Local councillors in Nove Zamky have rejected a proposal to receive a donation from the Turkish Embassy to build a Turkish fountain in the town as a symbol of Slovak-Turkish friendship. According to mayor of Nove Zamky Otokar Klein, Turkey offered the gift as a gesture of apology for the twenty-two-year Ottoman occupation of the town in the 17th century.
