Four anti-corruption NGOs warned against the election of lawyer and former Social Democrat (CSSD) MP Zdenek Koudelka as a deputy ombudsman by parliament today, saying that Koudelka, nominated by President Milos Zeman, lacks the necessary moral credit. The Anti-Corruption Endowment, Oziveni (Revival), Vratte nam stat (Return the state to us) and Kverulant (Complainer) groups have called on lawmakers not to vote for Koudelka. The Chamber of Deputies may be choosing a new deputy ombudsman, a replacement for Statislav Krecek, at its next session. Zeman, apart from proposing Koudelka, also proposed that Krecek continue in the post.
