Seventy-eight percent of Hungarians approve of the state of emergency that has been in effect in Hungary for two months as part of the response to the novel coronavirus epidemic, according to a survey by the Nezopont Research Institute. Fully 17 percent said they did not agree with the measure in hindsight, the pollster said. As much as 50 percent of respondents critical of the government agreed that introducing an emergency had been the right decision, Nezopont said. Nezopont noted that in mid-March, 94 percent of respondents said they agreed with the emergency and at the end of March when the government announced to extend it, 85 percent supported the measure.
