Traces of 500 psychoactive substances, including 300 types of designer drugs can be detected thanks to a new system designed by Poles. The substances can be detected from blood or urine samples, or traces of hair. Until now, the identification of non-standard psychoactive substances in the organism of someone suspected of using drugs was a problem, as there are many different types of designer drugs and the market is constantly changing. However, researchers from the private Institute of Forensic Genetics (IGS) in Bydgoszcz (northern Poland) are completing work on a new method of analysis of biological samples - blood, urine or hair samples - for the presence of psychotropic substances.
