The TEK counter-terrorism police unit has made a major contribution to Hungary's status as one of Europe's safest countries, the head of parliament's defence and police committee said on Tuesday. Following a visit to the TEK headquarters, Szilard Nemeth of ruling Fidesz said that he was in agreement with Christiane Hoehn, the principal advisor to the EU Counter-Terrorism Coordinator, who said that the establishment of the TEK force had been a milestone in the EU's counter-terrorism programme, and every EU member state needed such an organisation.
