MPs oppose automatic suspension of pregnant convicts' s sentence

January 29th, 2020

Czech courts will no longer have to automatically interrupt the prison sentence for mothers of infants and pregnant women convicted for a serious crime, based on a bill proposed by deputies from across the political spectrum which the Chamber of Deputies passed today. To take effect, the bill, which is an amendment to the Penal Code, still needs to be passed by the Senate and signed by President Milos Zeman.
