More than 20,000 households remain without electricity in central Slovakia due to the ongoing high winds and heavy wet snow, SSD power utility spokesman Miroslav Gejdos told TASR on Wednesday. "While some 2,000 households saw power blackouts yesterday, the situation has taken a turn for the worse throughout the night, and now there's more than 20,000 of them," Gejdos said. The situation is most critical in the Upper Hron area, although problems with electricity supply are also bedevilling the Orava and Liptov areas. Most of the problems have been caused by fallen trees that have damaged power lines.
