The issue of admissibility of termination of pregnancy evokes emotions everywhere in the world, but the scale of aggression and hate speech observed in recent days in Poland cannot be justified, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told the Gazeta Polska weekly. In an interview with the weekly, Morawiecki referred to last week's Constitutional Tribunal ban on abortion due to fetal defects. "We are part of the Christian civilization in which helping the weakest and the disabled is a virtue and a moral imperative," Morawiecki said, adding that Poland's new abortion law still allows for terminations if the pregnancy is life threatening or resulted from a crime.
