Matecna: Slovak beekeepers given record financial aid in 2019

The Agriculture Ministry in 2019 has allocated a record-breaking sum of money to Slovak beekeepers, whose numbers along with the number of hives has been growing, making Slovakia one of the few countries in Europe in which beekeeping is on the rise, Agriculture Minister Gabriela Matecna (SNS) stated at a briefing on Monday. According to the minister, beekeepers were given extraordinary, doubled financial aid amounting to 1.1 billion euros to support pollination. More than 80 beekeepers whose hives have been hit by American foulbrood were given 152,000 euros in compensation, a yearly increase of 66 percent.
