Slovak Foreign Affairs Minister Miroslav Lajcak said on Tuesday that his meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in Washington was amicable but at the same time intensive and pragmatic. Lajcak noted that the two have met three times over the course of the past 11 months, which, according to him, shows that relations between Slovakia and the United States are excellent. Lajcak said that first of all they addressed the situation in north-eastern Syria. They agreed that the Islamic State cannot be allowed to re-emerge and that terrorists should not be permitted to infiltrate Europe, which he believes is a concern shared by the US.
