Slovak President Andrej Kiska sees among the 40 candidates running for the post of Constitutional Court judge some personalities he would "gladly appoint" to the post, but there are also applicants he says he would "never appoint". Speaking to the public, Kiska said his two requirements for the candidates were expertise and morality. The head of state voiced hope that the MPs have enough applicants in order to be able to elect 18 constitutional judges, as stated in the Constitution. "As president I will take advantage of my right to send a representative to a session of the [parliamentary] constitutional committee at which a public hearing of all candidates will take place," he added.
