Kamenicky accepts offer to become finance minister

April 9th, 2019

Smer-SD MP Ladislav Kamenicky confirmed on Tuesday that he has accepted the offer from his party chief and former prime minister Robert Fico, as well as that of current premier Peter Pellegrini to become the new finance minister. The nomination still needs to be approved by the party presidium early next week, but it is considered to be only a formality. "I've received the offer with great respect and I'm grateful for the trust displayed to me," said Kamenicky. The finance minister post will become vacant when Peter Kazimir, the current minister, takes over the role of Slovakia's central bank governor.
