Jourova is only Czech candidate for EU commissioner - PM Babis

Outgoing Czech European Commissioner Vera Jourova is the only candidate whom the Czech Republic will nominate to the next European Commission, Prime Minister Andrej Babis told journalists before his flight to Brussels where he is to meet next EC President Ursula von der Leyen today. Jourova is responsible for the judiciary, consumer protection and equal opportunities in the EC in the five-year period that will end soon. "I think we may have a chance to get some economic portfolio as she is a woman and also as she was successful," Babis said, mentioning digitalisation, internal market or international trade.
