Joining NATO confirmed Poland's sovereignty, independence - president

President Andrzej Duda said during a visit to the headquarters of the Multinational Corps Northeast in Szczecin, north-west Poland, that joining NATO confirmed Poland's sovereignty and independence, as well as its departure from the Russian sphere of influence. The president also stressed that it signified Poland's entrance to the western circle. "I will not hesitate to say that generations of Poles had been waiting for this moment since the end of WWII. And one could also say today that many had sacrificed their lives for this moment," he stressed.
