On Monday, Poland's deputy Justice Minister Patryk Jaki said that the racist banners which had appeared during Saturday's Independence Day March were "disgraceful" and should be investigated for criminal responsibility. Asked about the event at a press conference, Jaki replied "there were a few racist, disgraceful banners out there and I believe they should be investigated for potential criminal responsibility". The deputy minister emphasised, however, these slogans must not overshadow the significance of the Independence March as a whole. "Above all, I saw people with red-and-white flags at the march, families with children, people who once a year want to attend such an event in order to feel the pride in their nation", Jaki said.
