If any accusation published in the media against the Supreme Audit Office (NIK) head, Marian Banas, proves valid, he must leave his post, Polish President Andrzej Duda said in an interview with the Monday edition of the Polska Times daily. Poland's Central Anti-Corruption Bureau (CBA) said in September it had been investigating the financial disclosure of Supreme Audit Office (NIK) President Marian Banas since April 16 and that the investigation was expected to end in the second half of October. In view of the turmoil, Banas took unpaid leave but returned to his duties soon after the October 13 general elections. "This case must be explained in detail, that is certain. It is too serious an institution to disregard anything here. Relevant services must do everything in this case," Duda said.
