Developments in Slovakia's energy sector are mostly positive, TASR learnt from an assessment of the Slovak energy industry by the International Energy Agency (IEA), whose conclusions were presented by IEA Executive Director Fatih Birol at the Central European Energy Conference (CEEC) in Bratislava on Monday. At the same time, the IEA report recommends that Slovakia should update its energy policy, which it hasn't done since 2014, and include in it ambitious targets for reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and beyond. It also recommends modernising the heating industry, in particular by regulating it in order to encourage further investments and an increase in flexibility.
