All Hungary's opposition parties have started talks, a development which LMP co-leader Bernadett Szel called "a breakthrough". After meeting politicians from the radical nationalist, Socialist, Democratic Coalition (DK) and Parbeszed parties, Szel, who called for the consultations, told a press conference on Monday that the talks had been constructive and conciliatory, and would be followed by further ones in the future with a view to maximising effective cooperation, keeping the electorate firmly in mind. Timea Szabo, Parbeszed's co-leader, told reporters the talks had been constructive and they would continue on Tuesday. Agnes Vadai, DK's deputy leader, said DK had entered the talks with several proposals for conciliation, but it was agreed that until the parties strike a deal, nothing should be made public. Socialist MP Bertalan Toth and Parbeszed co-leader Gergely Karacsony said their alliance would propose establishing an opposition roundtable.
