Hungary's justice system is among Europe's top performers, the National Office for the Judiciary said on Monday, noting the latest European Commission's Justice Scoreboard that takes a comparative look at the efficiency, quality and independence of EU members' justice systems. Hungary's is in the top third when it comes to efficiency, and its clearance rate of cases in 2016 improved on the previous year, the office said. The country's courts were the fastest at handing administrative cases at all judicial levels, it said, adding that the commission's report showed a drop in the number of pending civil, commercial and administrative cases. Hungary had the fourth lowest ratio of unprocessed cases, whereas it ranked second fastest as regards judicial review of consumer protection cases, OBH said, adding that Hungarian courts also excelled in e-administration.
