Activists of Humane Progress NGO on Tuesday handed over to Parliament a petition signed by 76,840 people calling for fur farming to be banned in Slovakia. Their demands were adopted by Slovak National Party (SNS) MP Eva Antosova, who has presented to Parliament an amendment to the law on veterinary care. The amendment prohibits breeding and killing fur animals for the purpose of obtaining their fur. It would concern rabbits, red fox, nutria, chinchilla, mink and ferret. Parliament is set to vote on it at the ongoing session.
