Housing costs highest item in Slovak households' spending

January 4th, 2019

Slovaks spend the most money on housing with energy (almost 25 percent of their total budget), then on food and non-alcoholic beverages (18 percent) and on recreation and culture (10 percent), while they spend the least on education (2 percent). "The situation on commodity markets was favourable especially in 2016 and 2017. However, as we can observe, prices are growing again. Slovaks will pay a bit more for gas, electricity and heat this year," said analyst Lenka Buchlakova from Slovenska sporitelna bank.
