High Tatras fire causes damage EUR 1.3 m

The damage caused by a forest fire that broke out in the High Tatra mountains in early May and devastated around 30 hectares of the Tatra National Park (TANAP) amounted to more than 1.3 million euros, Environment Minister Laszlo Solymos said at a briefing in the area of Kezmarske Zlaby on Thursday. Solymos added that the ministry has earmarked 20,000 euros to buy a helicopter bucket that will be available to the State Nature Protection agency to deal with similar events in the future.
