Heat grips Hungary, highest alert issued

Heat will continue to grip Hungary over the next two days with daily temperatures of over 35 degrees Celsius and extreme high ultraviolet B (UV-B) radiation levels, the weather services said on Thursday. A highest, third-degree code red heat alert is to be put in place for 15 counties, mostly in the eastern and central regions and Budapest. A new heat record has been set for the day in Budapest with 34.8 degrees, the weather services told MTI.
